Deep Tissue and Trigger Point Therapy

Deep Tissue and Trigger Point Massage Therapy uses some of the original strokes used within Swedish massage but the majority of the movements are slower and more concentrated on specific target areas. It focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue as well as on specific trigger points found within troublesome tension areas.

Trigger points are often tender and can generate pain in other areas if left untreated. By pinpointing with additional pressure and by using deeper massage techniques we can aim to break down long standing muscle tension and in particular, chronic adhesions (painful, solid bands of tissue) that can block circulation and cause pain and inflammation in various parts of the body.

This is not to be confused with a 'firm Swedish massage’ as there is very little hand movements involved in a Deep Tissue treatment and more forearm and knuckle work is used. It is most beneficial for those with active muscles particularly those in training, the more sports/fitness orientated or for those with chronic or long standing tension areas.
